Just been to see Philip's new cousin / our new nephew. 4 days old and gorgeous. Parents look like they're doing great. Philip seemed to enjoy seeing the new baby so we're pleased, though there's a lot of difference between visiting one and one invading your house!

I've had slightly raised blood pressure and a couple of trips to the hospital for subsequent monitoring when it's happily calmed down so am trying to take things easy. Not the simplest of tasks with a demanding toddler in the house, but a great excuse for lots of sleeping and relaxing baths when opportunity presents. Next midwife appointment not til next Monday so they can't be too concerned.

Last time I tried to blog our internet connection stopped working for 2 days so I'm hoping that doesn't happen again.

Am on leave now, and Philip is in nursery 2 days a week so time to "catch up" on things, and prepare for the next onslaught :-) Was quite sad to leave work, I mostly enjoy seeing people and having some nice technical problems to try and solve. And the bloke who was most annoying has finally decided to leave next week! I need the break though, I really wasn't much use the last few weeks and have done a lot of sleeping the last few days.

People kept asking if / when I'd be back. Last time I had a very clear plan and more or less stuck to it. This time I really haven't a clue - there are so many variables. So we'll see.

The great progress of the last couple of weeks has been the kitchen. The units are now all installed and lovely, the cooker is wired in electrically as well as for gas and the plastering has been done. Just the decorating - painting, tiling and flooring - to finish off, which requires some more choices and then probably getting some more people in. It'd be nice to get it finished but the timing's all a lot less critcial now. Cooking on a gas hob is great - I'm not sure the last time I had one but it seems like a good 5 years and may well be a lot longer.
